Dirk Bikkembergs Red Velcro Boots FW/95
As vibrant dashes of red & orange were prominent components of the AW/95 collection. Used to express certain elements of dirks design theory, it is to no surprise to find these brightly colored red boots. Being a key element to the runway as part of simple outfits mostly comprised of monotone colors & silhouettes, this boot stood out as a key element in completing the outfits. As there is also a black version to this boot those were paired up with different outfits that had more color such as red or orange knits or jackets.
These alluring, almost ponderous boots are designed off the idea of ski boots. Being a foundational source of inspiration for the future models of boots that were iterated. It is clear to see how these took inspiration, by incorporating elements such as a lengthened squared toe & straps placed such as it would on ski boots. These elements are blended with a powerful red color & asymmetrically molded sole.
