Here we have a preview of the Dirk Bikkembergs Fall/Winter 1995-96 Mens collection showcased at Paris fashion week. It was a five day event held from January 26th-30, various notable Antwerp designers were also a part of the show such as Dries Van Noten, Walter Van Beirendonck, Olivier Strehli & Scapa.
This runway featured many of Dirk's early design elements, such as dashing colors incorporated into the collection. This season having a recurring theme of red & orange. Both colours encompassing similar meaning’s in fashion.
Orange classically being an autumnal color signifying energy, speed, flamboyance & even danger all traits that Dirk Bikkembergs tends to give off from his collection. Red signifying energy but also powerful emotion in a positive way. It is a vibrant & compelling color, very much associated with dominance. It could be attributed to the ideal that Dirk tends to focus on which is to embody active emotions & give them to people. The energy he focuses on sharing through his collections is power & strength, often stating he designs clothes for men to look "Strong" Which is no surprise to why he chooses these colors.
Men are seen on the runway with broad shouldered trench coats, sporting the classic Dirk Bikkembergs silhouette boots, along with dashes of red & orange throughout the clothes. Pointed shoulders on coats being a recurring theme for this runway.
